Abstract

The title of this rock music of the late 1970sbecame an iconic slogan of millions ofyoung people worldwide and assumedundertones of freedom, choice, liberation,and anti-establishment counter-culture. Theorigin of this ubiquitous phrase can actuallybe traced to the 1960s’ ‘Hippy movement’and ‘Flower Power’.All good so far, except that regularrecreational drugs and sexual health fails toespecially produce the ‘rock and roll’, in thelong run. Addictive disorders and sexualhealth interact with each other in variousways, and the result is not often pleasurable.This entire special issue of the journal isdevoted to studying such variegated andcomplex interactions in several standardclinical settings. The editors and the authorsare to be commended for this painstakingand valuable compilation. In this guesteditorial, we seek your indulgence in makinga few general observations and commentingon a few points not covered elsewhere.
