Sexual health and the SDGs: Opportunities and challenges

Abstract
The integration of sexual health into the United Nations’Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) offers bothopportunities and challenges. It can potentially enhanceglobal development by addressing physical, mental, andemotional dimensions of well-being and aligning withgoals such as good health, quality education, genderequality, and reduced inequalities. However, deeplyrooted cultural norms, societal taboos, limited access tosexual and reproductive healthcare, and insufficientresources pose significant obstacles. Overcoming thesechallenges requires a multifaceted approach involvingeducation, policy reform, and resource allocation.Ultimately, the harmonious integration of sexual healthwithin the SDGs can contribute to holistic human wellbeingand progress on multiple fronts.
