Main Article Content
Abstract
Addiction, addictive behaviors, or their consequences areoften of health concern and hold various psychosocial andcultural implications. As a part of this broader impact ofany substance abuse; women, of any age are oftenmarginalized and ignored. Therefore, equal access andchance to get basic and proper health care facilities are oftenhampered. This escalates detrimentally in a furthervulnerable state of pregnancy with substance use disorders, either as a preexisting practice or sometimes as a newlylearned behavior. Apart from the teratogenic effect ofvarious commonly used psychoactive substances bypregnant women, this practice harms the mother and thechild in various and indirect ways. The treatment plan andcompliance are often multi-dimensional, which needsinterpretation under the light of one's particular culture andcontext.
