Abstract

The connection between sex and addictivesubstances has been an issue of intrigue formankind since antiquity. Human beings, themost intelligent of all the life forms on theearth, had been applying their inquisitivenature to enhance their sexual performanceand pleasure and had employed variousaddictive substances for this purpose(Hamilton and Aldridge, 2020). Thesubstances have been used as aphrodisiacs toincrease desire and performance, to decreaseanxiety before coitus, and as a remedy forcertain sexual disorders (Grover et al., 2014).
